I think we’ll see passenger rights legislation, though it might be better for passengers in the long-run if the airlines proposed something themselves. That would eliminate the inevitable adversarial back-and-forth known as Passing a Bill Into Law these days. This kind of runway delay has happened before, due to winter weather; my sense was the airlines had developed plans so it wouldn’t happen again. Apparently not.
