surfing, hawaii, u.s.a.

SWEEPS | Here's a little place-name cognitive dissonance for you. Old London Foods is sponsoring a sweeps to Oahu, Hawaii. After scratching my head, I realized that Old London Foods, a purveyor of crackers, flat breads and melba toast, has little to do with London these days, except that one if its top products, melba toast, was first created in London by Escoffier, for Dame Nellie Melba when he was working with Cesar Ritz at the Savoy Hotel in London. So, that's the London part. Now, the Hawaii element. This sweeps includes three nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa plus dinner, a massage, private cooking lesson at Chef Mavro restaurant, surf lessons on Waikiki Beach. Ah, bliss.

This is a Facebook sweeps. I'm still trying to figure out the whole Facebook sweeps paradigm. You're entering via Facebook, and giving the sweeps administrator permission to access your information. Apart from that, I am not detecting any difference with a traditional website entry sweeps. Facebook changed its rules and no longer allows sweeps entries through "like" clicks, entrants have to provide the usual personal information, name, contact information. As to privacy, well, based on past transgressions, it's safe to say only Facebook knows for sure.

To enter, click HERE. The sweeps runs through June 30, 2011.
