Not to go Politico on you, but Margaritaville Beach Hotel, in Pensacola Beach, Florida, is smack along some of the worst-hit shoreline in the Gulf of Mexico. It opened in June, so they're not having the best launch, even with Jimmy Buffet's wattage in the mix. He's a partner in the hotel. Apparently the Obama family is visiting the Gulf this weekend, but they're staying 80 or so miles east of here, in an area that was not as hard hit. I am so curious about how the spill is affecting everyone, I'd love to go and get a firsthand look. I saw today that BP wasn't paying hotels' claims for lost business. Whose claims are they paying?
This sweeps is for four nights at the hotel, air, a tour of the sites and a gumbo cooking class with Jimmy's sister Lucy, who runs a restaurant called Lulu's a few towns over in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
