spa week, day 7: three california spa escapes

The few first days of daylight saving time feel like jet lag. I can’t decide which is worse, springing forward or falling back. With jet lag, traveling east always seems the greater of two evils. Otherwise, a fine day. Spring was in the air, Isaac got a haircut. His hair had grown to an untamable, mad scientist length, a cross between Albert Einstein and Dennis the Menace. I like the foppy mophead look, but he prefers a buzz cut. We walked home from Cleveland Park through the zoo. We hadn’t been since last fall. Isaac deemed the space for some of the animals in the Asia Walk, a new exhibit we had never seen, as inadequate. I don’t know how else to interpret that woeful pacing back and forth of the sloth bear. We decided this would make a terrific science project, studying the behavior of animals in captivity at the zoo. Now the trick will be to remember that next year.

Here’s my last spa hurrah for the week, three spa getaways, all in California.

Huntington Beach
Two nights. April 15 – 15, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa. I love the Spanish architecture. Listen up, Tae Bo buffs. This comes with three classes and dinner with Billy Blanks, the creator of Tae Bo.

San Diego
Three nights, for four, presumably a family, at La Costa Spa & Resort, with complimentary spa access for one adult, presumably Mom, and golf course use, presumably for Dad.

To enter, click HERE. The deadline is March 25.

Sonoma
Three nights at The Lodge at Sonoma, plus spa certificates and the requisite wine country limousine tour. I can’t get a handle on The Lodge, but who cares. It’s such a beautiful part of the world.

To enter, click HERE. Daily entry through March 31.
